Can my baby have kiwi?
A quick, age-by-age answer with how to serve it safely. Checked against AAP.
Most babies start solids around 6 months.
Kiwi is fine once solids begin. Ripe and soft is what makes it work.
How to serve: Wait for solids readiness.
Safe and soft. Acid rash is the usual drama.
Ripe kiwi is soft enough for early eaters, and the tiny seeds are harmless. A blotchy rash only where the fruit touched the skin is usually acid irritation. True kiwi allergy exists and is worth knowing about: hives, swelling, or vomiting after eating it mean stop and call your pediatrician.
How to serve: Peel and serve ripe, in wide strips or small pieces. Underripe kiwi can sting the mouth, so ripeness matters for comfort, not just texture.
