Can my baby have raw carrots?

Raw carrots are hard and snap into airway-sized pieces, a high choking risk until age 4. Cooked carrots are a wonderful early food.

How to serve: Cook by steaming or roasting until soft, or shred finely raw. Whole raw sticks wait until age 4.

4 years and upSafe

Raw carrot is fine from age 4.

From age 4 most children can chew raw carrot safely. Supervise while eating.
