Can my baby have eggs?
A quick, age-by-age answer with how to serve it safely. Checked against AAP 2017, NIAID, CDC.
Most babies start solids, including egg, around 6 months.
Egg is a top allergen. Introduce it around 6 months with other solids, not before 4 months, and do not delay it to age 1. High-risk peanut guidance is separate and clinician-directed.
How to serve: Wait for solids readiness. Fully cooked only when you start.
Offer it fully cooked, and watch for a reaction.
Egg is one of the top 9 allergens. Introducing it early can reduce allergy risk. Through the under-5 window, serve eggs fully cooked with a firm yolk and white because of Salmonella risk.
How to serve: Scramble well or hard-boil and mash. Firm yolk and white; no runny eggs under 5.
